Where an
assignment goes.

Assignments stay in the Android app’s local storage. This policy follows them from creation to removal, then explains the separate website.

What this policy covers

This policy describes Handspan, the Android cooperative puzzle app, and the separately supplied Handspan website. It explains what the implementation stores and what changes when a website is hosted.

02 / Data handling

Your puzzle assignments

The app stores the selected helper and round for each task, together with the last undertaking and screen you opened. These values support returning to an unfinished puzzle.

03 / Data handling

Working preferences

The Reduce motion preference is stored locally so the app can apply your chosen interaction style when you return.

04 / Data handling

Preserved runs

When you choose Preserve this run, the app keeps a snapshot of that undertaking’s assignment. Reopening it restores that snapshot into the working puzzle. Later edits do not change the preserved snapshot until you preserve a new run.

05 / Data handling

Data transmission

The Android app has no Internet permission, network client, analytics SDK or advertising SDK. It does not send your assignments or preferences to a server.

06 / Data handling

Names and accounts

Handspan does not request an account, email address or personal profile. Ari, Bo and Kit are characters in its puzzles; their labels are not entries about real employees or participants.

07 / Data handling

Where values are stored

Assignments, preserved runs and preferences are saved in Android SharedPreferences within the app’s private storage. Other ordinary apps do not have direct access to that private storage.

08 / Data handling

Removing local data

Use Android Settings to clear Handspan’s storage, or uninstall Handspan, to remove its local assignments, preserved runs and preferences. Clearing storage resets the app; it cannot restore those values afterward.

09 / Data handling

Backup and device changes

Android backup is disabled for this application. Handspan does not provide cloud synchronization or an in-app export. A new installation should not be relied on to contain a previous installation’s puzzle state.

10 / Data handling

The companion website

The supplied website presents app information and this policy. Its pages do not include a contact form, account system, analytics, advertising, cookies or browser-storage features. The Android app does not automatically load these pages.

11 / Data handling

Device security

Android’s app sandbox helps separate the app’s local data. Device access, operating-system security and any privileged access remain outside Handspan’s control. No system can guarantee absolute security.

12 / Data handling

If the website is hosted

A hosting provider may receive standard request information, such as IP address, requested page and browser details. The publisher should identify its chosen hosting provider and applicable practices before making the website available.

13 / Data handling

Puzzle content and audience

The app’s undertakings are creative coordination puzzles. They do not collect information about actual teams or provide personnel scheduling services. The app does not ask children or adults to submit personal information.

14 / Data handling

Permissions and device access

Handspan requests no Android permissions. It does not access contacts, location, camera, microphone, shared files or device identifiers through permission-protected APIs.

15 / Data handling

How long values remain

Local values remain until replaced by later app actions, removed through Android’s storage controls, or removed with the installation. A newly preserved run replaces the prior preserved run for the same undertaking.

Policy changes

This policy is dated September 6, 2026 and describes version 1.0.0. A future release that changes data handling should be accompanied by an updated policy and relevant publisher disclosures.

Questions about a published version

For questions about a published copy, use the publisher contact information displayed with that copy in its distribution listing.

A practical summary

Your puzzle choices support local continuation and preserved runs. The Android implementation does not transmit them. Clearing the app’s storage removes them. Website hosting, if later added, has its own request-handling context.
